Obituary: Roger "Bopper" Mark Molstad

Roger "Bopper" Mark Molstad, 61, of Cloquet passed away peacefully with his wife and best friends by his side July 16, 2022, after a two-year battle with bladder cancer. He worked for the toboggan factory, Lake Superior Cabs, Cloquet Collision Center, and the family-owned Molstad Resort.

In addition to being a fantastic friend, brother, uncle, grandfather and loving husband, Bopper enjoyed caring for several pets and stray animals. Bopper was an avid collector of everything Sno-Jet and anything with an engine, collected rare items and antiquities, and ran a pool table with ease.

Bopper was preceded in death by his parents; stepson Jason Sanford; niece and nephews Jodie, Bobby and Andy McCubbin; and several aunts, uncles, and friends. He is survived by his wife Shirley; mother-in-law Wanda Mularie; stepsons Timothy (Shelia) and Wesley (Denise) Sanford; stepdaughter-in-law Jackie Frye; sisters Cecile (Colin) Archibald, Linda (Bob) McCubbin, Nancy (Mark) Wisneski and Cindy (Bob) Molstad; nieces and nephews Anna Marie, Julie Ann and Russell Archibald, Chris (Camille) LeBrasseur, Mark (Deanna) Wisneski, Cassandra (Jeff) Dynneson, Jason (Sarah) Fish, Jacob (Emma) McCubbin and Brenden Niemi; grandchildren Timothy (Kayla), Luke, Jack and Wesley Sanford, and Dylan (Brittany) and Gunner Lintgen; and an abundance of friends he loved, including Irving Stapleton, the last remaining member of the "Ass-Hole Club."

The family would like to extend a special thank-you to all those who cared for Bopper, the Mayo Clinic, Essentia Health and Hospice, and the Min No Aya Win clinic.

Visitation: 5-7 p.m. Sunday, July 24, and continuing at 9 a.m. until the 10 a.m. funeral service Monday, July 25, all at Nelson Funeral Care. Interment will be held in New Calvary Cemetery.
