North Shore scenic drive closing Tuesday

October 7, 2022

For those headed up to the North Shore to take in the fall colors, there is travel news. North Shore Scenic Drive, also known as County Highway 61, will close for emergency repairs beginning Tuesday, Oct. 11. Erosion on the lake side of the highway is causing the slope to fail.

The road will be closed to all through traffic for approximately five weeks while temporary repairs are made to support the road through the winter. A permanent repair will be done next spring.

The project is in the vicinity of the Scenic Café. Detour signs will be posted directing traffic to use Ryan Road, State Highway 61, and Homestead Road as alternate routes. Access to homes and the restaurant will be maintained throughout the month.
