Scholarships to help future officers

The Law Enforcement Scholarship Program for 2022 through the Minnesota Sheriff’s Association was announced this week. The association will award $2,000 scholarships to up to 20 current students, said Carlton County Sheriff Kelly Lake in a news release.

Scholarship awards will be announced by Dec. 29. Application forms and a statement of procedures are available at the Carlton County Sheriff’s Office in Carlton, and are due Nov. 19.

Scholarships are available only to students currently enrolled in one of the following three categories:

• Mandated Peace Officer Skills Training program.

• Their second year of a two-year law enforcement program.

• Their third or fourth year of a four-year college criminal justice program.

In order to qualify, students must have completed at least one year of the two-year program or two years of a four-year program.
