If you missed the “Land of Stories” at Common Ground last fall, don’t despair. Another performance of the shadow puppet play along with an author talk and book signing with Thomas Peacock is scheduled for 6 p.m. Tuesday, April 25 at the Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College auditorium in Cloquet.
The shadow puppet play weaves together stories by Peacock and Sharon Doolittle Shuck, both dealing with the boarding schools that large numbers of Native American children were forced to attend in the United States from 1879 into the 1960s.
Land of Stories begins with the Anishinaabe Seven Fires Prophecy and ends with a boy receiving spiritual guidance from Migizi (bald eagle).
