Patriotism, Pizza and Pop

School patrol students from Esko and Cloquet's Washington and Churchill elementary schools enjoyed pizza, pop and patriotism this spring at the annual party hosted by the Cloquet VFW and its auxiliary. VFW members showed students how a flag is properly folded and the meaning behind it. Placemats at tables kept the 45 fourth- and fifth-grade students busy, where a poppy, certificate of appreciation and a gold dollar coin were also placed. There were 20 pizzas to enjoy, under the delighted watch of commander Ron Stigers, auxiliary president Bernie Howden and Americanism chairwoman Alma Ojala.
