Clarence Wayne "C.W." Rautio, 90, of Floodwood passed away Oct. 31, 2023, in his home with his loving wife by his side.
C.W. was born Jan. 17, 1933, to Wayne and Vienna Rautio in Floodwood. He attended school in the Halden School House until the eighth grade, when he decided school was not for him. His dad made him go work in the woods with him.
He joined the U.S. Army in 1953, and was honorably discharged in 1961. He had several jobs throughout his life, including working on ships on the Great Lakes, construction, self-employed diesel mechanic, and how most will remember him, driving truck, which he did until he was 85 years old.
He married Nancy on Dec. 3, 1974, and they were happily married for what would have been 49 years this year. He was preceded in death by his parents, Wayne and Vienna Rautio; brother Ronald; and son, Eugene. He is survived by his loving wife, Nancy; daughters, Jennifer (Dean) Broten, Jessica (Gabe) Greer and Jamie (Bernie) Jackson; grandchildren, Stephanie (Louis) Nutt, Benjamin (Sundus) Rautio, Jeremy and Nicole Rautio, Bryan Broten, Karlie (Riley) Doman, William Broten, Alex and Justin Greer, and Bella DeLeon; great-grandchildren, Mila, Ariel and Elon; sisters, Patricia Thompson and Susan Randa; and brother Daniel (Pat) Rautio. He will also be missed by his pups, Bugsy and Capone, many relatives, and hundreds of friends he made throughout his life.
A celebration of life will be held 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 5, at the Savanna Portage in Floodwood.
