A special thank-you to all who donated and attended the appreciation supper for the Kettle River fire department. It meant a lot to those who were honored.

Some of you may know that my nephew, Rory Sarvela, lost his home and everything in a fire on Palm Sunday. Donations may be sent to him through Widdes Trailer Sales, 93 County Road 61, Esko MN 55733.

The Ma & Pa Kettle Days meeting is at 6 p.m. Sunday, April 14 at the Kettle River Senior Center.

The Finnish Luncheon will be at noon Tuesday, April 16 at the Kettle River Senior Center. Let your friends know about this. We hope to be able to continue through the summer. Lunches will be held the third Tuesday of the month.

The Moose Lake Library’s used book sale is 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 14-15 at the arena. Bring donations to the arena June 11-13. Do not bring donations to the library.

I was informed that my sister-in-law, Irene Sarvela Douglass, of Turner, Oregon, died on Monday, April 1. She would have been 100 on April 6. They had planned a big party for her, but will now be holding a Celebration of Life service instead.
