City cleans sewer mains

The Cloquet public works department began cleaning sewer mains on Tuesday, and will continue through the end of September. Cleaning will be done between the hours of 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. Monday through Friday. Sewer customers in the immediate cleaning area may temporarily experience sewer gas odors and bubbling toilets or drains due to the cleaning process. If sewer odors are noticed, it is advisable to refill any p-traps in basement or seldom used drains by pouring a little water down each drain.

City officials said this work will help to provide better sewer service and reduce sewer backups. Contact Public Works Director Caleb Peterson at 218-879-6758 or [email protected] with any questions.
