Lois Grace Lennartson of Midway Township went to her heavenly home Saturday, June 1, 2024. Lois was born June 3, 1927. She died just two days before her 97th birthday.
Lois was the daughter of George and Hedwig Thorburg. She was one of four daughters, with Lindus being her identical twin.
Lois married Elmer Lennartson on July 30, 1949. She and her husband had three sons, Paul, David and Mark. Lois was a 1945 graduate of Proctor High School. Lois and her identical twin Lindus were cheerleaders for various sports and sang duets at many events.
She attended Lutheran Bible Institute in Minneapolis and Hurst Business College in Duluth. Lois taught Sunday School and sang in the choir at Augustana Lutheran Church. Lois then became a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Cloquet, where she served as a lay shepherd. Lois worked for several real estate companies for 35 years. She was the clerk of Midway Township for more than 40 years.
Lois and Lindus were very close. They dressed alike and did many activities together. They married brothers Elmer and Robert "Bob" Lennartson, and lived across the road from each other. Lindus died in 2018.
Lois was preceded in death by her spouse, Elmer; her son, David; her parents; and three sisters.
Lois is survived by two sons, Paul (Mary) of Midway Township and Mark (Nancy) of Duluth Township; her son David's spouse, Judy, of Florida; four grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Edgewood Memory Care and CaringEdge hospice care.
Visitation: 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. memorial service June 29 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Cloquet. A lunch will be served after the service. A burial service at Augustana Lutheran Church Cemetery will follow the lunch.
