Photos from: CAFD zeroes in on house fire prevention

Noah Beardslee

The Dalles Masonic Lodge No. 181 of Cloquet donated a fire suppression tool to the Cloquet Area Fire District during the April 17 board meeting. The FST was designed to be used against fires in confined spaces and functions somewhat like a grenade. The responder just pulls the pin and throws the FDT into the confined space. The chemical it releases attacks the chemical bond of the fire and reduces its heat for 90 seconds. People can breathe in it. It is the first such device the district has.
