Obituary: Alvin "Tillie" Michael Tillman

Alvin “Tillie” M. Tillman, age 91 of Cloquet, died peacefully on Sunday, March 8, 2020 at Inter-Faith Care Center in Carlton, Minnesota. He was born on December 15, 1928 in Little Falls, Minnesota to Michael and Martha (Zyvloski) Tillman. Alvin served in the U.S. Army during WWII from July 1948-June 1952. During his service, he boxed under the Eisenhower administration. He was united in marriage to Dorothy Walczak on July 3, 1954 at St. Casimir’s Catholic Church in Cloquet. Alvin worked for the Potlatch Corp. and also owned Tillie’s Bar on Hwy. 33. He coached baseball and boxing and enjoyed watching basketball and the Minnesota Twins.

Alvin was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Dorothy; one daughter, Dawn Johnson; one sister, Florence Quinn; and two brothers, Leonard Tillman and Hank Tillman. He is survived by his sons, Kevin, Dale and Dean Tillman; daughter, Kathy (Scott) Jezierski; 10 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; one son-in-law, Tom Johnson; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation: Saturday, March 14, from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. Memorial Service at Nelson Funeral Care in Cloquet.
