The Carlton County Fair is fast approaching and I am looking for volunteers to work at the Little Red Schoolhouse Aug. 19-22. Call me at 218-357-2385 if you can help out. Our Carlton County Retired Educators group seems to be dwindling in membership, so I am asking any area retired and current teachers and staff to step up and help out at the fair. Everyone who has worked there in the past has really enjoyed meeting so many nice people.

The Farmers Co-op in Wright will be holding its 102nd annual meeting 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug, 11 at the Wright Senior Center. All shareholders and those considering becoming shareholders are welcome to attend. Shares can be purchased for $10 at any time.

The first YOT senior dance of the year was held July 22 at the Cromwell pavilion with more than 60 dancers and spectators. A delicious potluck was served, and Mike Davis won the “split the pot” drawing. The cost is $8 per person, and all ages are welcome to attend.

Have you noticed that the City of Wright is looking better and a lot of the junk has been disposed of? That’s because the city passed a public nuisance ordinance May 12. Mayor Mark Groth and the city council adopted several provisions in the interest of promoting the health, safety, and welfare of residents. Failure to observe the ordinance is punishable as a misdemeanor.

Word has it that there will be a Hey Days event in Tamarack Aug. 7. I’m hoping to get more details soon.
