Barry Michael Hintz, 66, of Esko passed away Nov. 19, 2021. A native of Cloquet, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Dickison Hintz, and his parents, William Marlin Hintz and Dolores Tuura Anderson. Barry worked for Potlatch-Sappi for more than 20 years, and was a lifelong member of the union, serving as vice president for many years. In his spare time, he enjoyed muskie fishing and spending time at his shack on the St. Louis River.

He is survived by his loving son, Jordan Hintz, and his wife, Julie, of Jacksonville, North Carolina; grandchildren, Donavan, Ian and Ayla; sisters, Leslie Douglas (Dave) of Carlton and Sarah Conner (Greg) of Duluth; brothers, Scott Hintz (Nancy) of Minneapolis, Tom Hintz (Terri) of Grand Rapids, Scott Hintz of Carlton, and Robbie Anderson (Samantha) of Cloquet; special daughter of the heart, Amber Hintz; and his lifelong friends Terry DeMenge and Dorin Langley.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by lifelong friend Kurt Klinga.

A memorial service was scheduled for 4 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 2 at 135 West Stark Road, Esko.

In lieu of flowers, please honor Barry's life by spending those monies on yourself and enjoy your day.

To have known Barry is to know his sarcastic humor; he was a grumpy old man set in his ways, yet sweet in his own way. Above all, he was an extremely generous person with a quiet demeanor.

Coastal Cremations of Jacksonville is serving the family. To leave an online condolence or to share a memory, please visit http://www.coastalcremations.com.
