Wright/Cromwell news

The price of Forever stamps went up to 63 cents on Monday. So, how many of us send letters anymore? Well, I do. And the folks I write to sure appreciate getting actual letters from time to time. Even though a lot of greetings are now sent by email, an actual card with personal comments or notes sure is nice to send and receive.

With deep sorrow, I’m announcing the death of 84-year-old Charles A. Sedlander of Cromwell, who passed away Jan. 19. A funeral service was scheduled for Friday at Bethany Lutheran Church. Leave a sympathy message to the family in the guestbook on the memorial page — echovita.com/us/obituaries/flowers/15856201 — to show support.

There was a memorial service Wednesday for the residents who passed away over the last year while living at the Villa Vista/Cardinal Court. Family and friends attended this very meaningful service. Those who were remembered were Mary Ward, Evelyn Nordlund, Beatrice Heikkila, Lois Hendrickson, Elvina Soukkala, Luella Linden, Lincoln Hansen, Larry Switzer, John Polich, Robert Stewart, Rubin Baxley, Darlene Steffer, Dennis Olson, Tim Diver, Mardell Marsyla Glenn Halvorson and Fritz Henderson.

The annual meeting at Bethlehem will be held after worship at 10:30 a.m. Sunday. Bethany and Bethlehem will trade times on Sunday to accommodate the pastor being at the meeting at Bethlehem. Both meetings will be followed with a potluck lunch.

The Villa Vista/Cardinal Court celebrated 90-and-over birthdays last week for Dagny Quarnstrom, Niilo Isaacson, Elouise Lucking, Goldy Homstad, Lorraine Rhode, Judy Miller, Roy Miller, Lorraine Beck, Bill Onstad, Glenn Solomon, Ken Solonam, Peter Linden, Elvie Latvala, Gertie Schanche and Wilma Rinke. Isaacson, Rhode, Judy Miller, Roy Miller and Onstad have 100th birthdays in 2023.

Have a great week. That’s all the news from “The Edge of Wright.”
