Wright/Cromwell news

Eureka! I have found it. What, you may ask? Well, a couple of weeks ago, I misplaced one of my handheld landline phones and have been looking for it ever since. I looked all over the house, the basement and even in the van and the garage just in case I set it down somewhere when doing something outside, but no luck. And this time I couldn’t blame my late husband Bob for losing it either. I was resigned to giving up, and then my granddaughter’s words came back to me again: “Don’t worry, Grandma, it will show up!” Well, on Thursday while lying in bed I thought the phone could have fallen behind the bed, and when I got up and pulled the bed away from the wall, there it was, just waiting for me to find it. I guess lost things are always in the last place you look, because then you can quit looking.

Congratulations to Niilo Isaacson, who celebrated his 100th birthday on Saturday, Feb. 18 at the Cromwell Pavilion. Cards can still be sent to him in care of the Cardinal Court, 1197 Villa Vista Circle, Cromwell MN 55726.

Our sympathies go out to the family of Dolly Niemi, 88, of Wright, who joined her family and cats in heaven on Feb. 10. She was born in Wright to Joseph and Tillie Solomon, and enjoyed lawn mowing, sewing, flower gardening, feeding people, and all living things, especially cats.

Our sympathies also go to the family of Margaret Olson Webster of Tamarack. She passed away peacefully in hospice on Feb. 9, at the age of 83, with her family by her side. A celebration of Margaret’s life will be held at 11 a.m. on May 27 at Bethany Lutheran Church in Cromwell.

It’s that time of year again. Marcia Peterson is fundraising for the 2023 JDRF One Walk, which will be held in Duluth on May 20 at the University of Minnesota Duluth. Dude’s Team was No. 1 in the amount raised for the type 1 diabetes research foundation last year — all donations were greatly appreciated. My grandson, Roland, was thrilled with the attention it gave him. This year Marcia is doing it for Ro and his brother Ezra. Ezzie was found to have the markers for T1D, so it’s only a matter of time. If you’d care to donate to this year’s walk or join us for the walk, go to https://bit.ly/3YUppNN.

Congratulations to John and Mary Dahlman of Floodwood on the recent birth of their second great-grandson, Joseph Alexander Dahlman, born on Jan. 14 to Jakob and Jasmine Dahlman. Nathan Dahlman is his grandfather.

Yoga at the Cromwell Park Pavilion is 11 a.m. Mondays, and cost is $3 per person.

The school referendum passed, guaranteeing $6.45 million in improvements to school safety, parking, and gym expansion. Thank you for helping us create the best possible learning environment for the students.

Congratulations to Noah Foster, a senior student-athlete, for being selected as the Triple ‘A’ Award recipient for Subsection 25 of Region 7A, for his achievements in academics, the arts and athletics. Noah will receive his award at the 7A boys hockey championship game on March 1, when the overall region winners will also be announced. The Cromwell-Wright Cardinals are proud of Noah’s outstanding high school career.
