It sure is nice to have more daylight in the evenings. Now maybe the snow will stop falling and we can get onto the season of spring.

Congratulations to the UMD women’s basketball team on making it to the Division II Final Four. We can be proud of Cromwell’s Taya Hakamaki, as she is a key member of the team.

A great number of folks attended the gathering of family and friends for Gary Oja on Saturday, March 18 at St. John’s. I heard that at least 16 of his classmates from Cromwell-Wright School attended in support of the family. Gary was laid to rest in the Lakeview Cemetery in Wright on March 17.

Planning for Wrong Days in Wright began with a March 20 meeting at Kalli’s Place. The 58th annual event will be July 14-16. Does anyone know where we can get Wrong Day buttons made for this year’s event in July? Mike Davis made them for years, and now that he has passed we need a provider.

Pimpa Gresczyk was presented with an American flag at the last Young Old Timers meeting in honor of her attaining her U.S. citizenship recently. Her photo was taken with several of the veterans in attendance: Bill Zelazny, Rocky Youngberg, John Peterson, Ed Raisanen, and Kenny Kangas.

The Wright seniors meet 1-4 p.m. every Wednesday for fun and games, and Thursdays for cribbage at the Wright Senior Center.

The Tri-Community Food Shelf in Cromwell is participating in Minnesota FoodShare’s March Campaign through April 9. All donations to the food shelf will receive a proportionate match, meaning that your donation will go even further.

Kindergarten roundup for the 2023-24 school year is Friday, April 7 at the Cromwell-Wright School, from 8:45 a.m. until approximately 10:30 a.m. Information packets were mailed to families with children turning 5 on or before Sept. 1, 2023. If you did not receive one, or would like to be added to the list, please contact the school office, 218-644-3737.

Join us at 5 p.m. Wednesday, April 5, at the Cromwell Pavilion for our public open house. We will have a formal presentation by MnDOT on the Highway 73 Cromwell-to-Kettle River corridor study at 5:15 p.m., followed by a listening session to hear the concerns of those who live and commute along Highway 73. Starting in April, the Farmers Co-op hours are 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday until Memorial Day.
