Roberta Ann (Goad) "Birdie" Olson, 77, of Cloquet passed away April 13, 2023, at St. Luke's Hospital in Duluth, surrounded by her loved ones. She was born May 21, 1945, in Cloquet, the daughter of Roy and Dorothy (Sheppard) Goad. Roberta graduated from Wrenshall High School in 1963. She was united in marriage to Dennis R. Olson on April 29, 1967, and had worked in the general offices for Northwest Paper Company.

Roberta was an active member at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church. She was a devoted Christian and a very loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt. Roberta cherished her grandkids and great-grandkids. Roberta was looking forward to seeing her great-grandson Malakai graduate in May and the birth of her great-grandson Henry in June. She especially loved spending time with her family and friends.

Roberta was preceded in death by her parents; sister Arlene Hammitt; sons-in-law, Troy Lind and Larry Laveau; and her in-laws, Raymond and Bernice Olson. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Dennis R. Olson; daughters, Teresa Lind, Stephanie (Gary) Gatewood and Krista Laveau; grandchildren, Kaylee, Keshia (Joe), Mika and Jagger (Kristin); great-grandchildren, Malakai, Mason, Trinity, Christian, Raelynn, Rayne-bow and Delilah; siblings Karen Amborn and twin brother, Russ Goad; brothers-in-law, Dale Olson and Kris (Sherri) Olson; and numerous nieces and nephews.

An 11 a.m. funeral service was planned for Thursday, April 20 at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Cloquet, with interment at New Calvary Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Nelson Funeral Care.
