Shirley Marie Mead, 85, of Wrenshall passed away peacefully at home Wednesday, April
26, 2023, with her family by her side. She was born July 15, 1937, in Crosby, the daughter of Gladys (Wolford) and Melvin Bayliss.
Shirley worked at the Junction Oasis truck stop for 30-plus years. She loved spending time with
her family, playing cribbage, baking and camping. Most of all, she loved Duane, her husband of
66 years.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; mother and father-in-law, Fern and Adeline
(Brand) Mead; brothers, Roger Bayliss, Ken Bayliss and Jerome Bayliss; sisters Lillian Davis and Marlene Bayliss; brothers-in-law Les Wycoff, Tom Nephew, Lesley Mead and Earl Mead; sisters-in-law Lois (Roger) Bayliss and Violet Mead; daughter-in-law, Denise Mead; and son-in-law, Parv Parviainen.
She is survived by her husband, Duane; her children, Harold Mead, Henry (Chris) Mead, Holly
Parviainen, Fern (Tammy) Mead and Harley (Elise) Mead; sisters Audrey Wycoff, Jeanine (Jerry) Nephew and Beverly (Jim) Hofmann; sisters-in-law Marilyn (Ken) Bayliss, Lois (Jerome) Bayliss, Donna Wilson and Lee (Earl) Davis-Mead; and brother-in-law Gordy (Lillian) Davis.
Shirley was blessed with 14 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Shirley’s family will gather for a private celebration of life at a later date.
