Wright/Cromwell news

The Kaleb Anderson walk and pancake breakfast at the Cromwell Pavilion on July 1 was a huge success. Thanks go out to all who donated time and money, walkers and runners, and the city for having the space to hold such a huge event. They say one person can’t make a difference, but Kaleb sure did in his short lifetime. Thank you, Anderson/Koivisto family, for keeping his memory alive.

A lovely memorial service was held for Elouise Lucking on July 1. Elouise was a wonderful artist and several of her works were on display at Bethany Lutheran Church. She had lived at the Cardinal Courts and Villa Vista for nine years. My sympathies to the family.

There will be several bridges and box culverts being replaced in our area, starting with the one just east in Cromwell between Cromwell Lake and Island Lake, which started Wednesday and will last for 21 days. Then the box culverts on Woodbury Lake and the one over the river in Wright will start on July 31 and last for 31 days. So, folks we will have to take the best detours to get to and from. Just be watchful of any detours and allow extra time to get to your planned destinations.

This is the last week to pick up postage stamps for 63 cents as the price of a First-Class stamp will go up to 66 cents on July 9. Rates will also go up for packages, and more.

There will be a huge family rummage sale July 7-9 on Kalli Road west of Cromwell. I guess it’s the season for sales and there are many great deals to be found.

The next Ruby’s Pantry will be on July 13 at the Pavilion in Cromwell, 9-10:30 a.m.

Don’t forget that the 58th Wrong Days In Wright events will start on Friday July 14 with a steak fry and pie sale. Buttons are on sale for many drawings in the park on Saturday the 15th right after the parade at 10:30 a.m. Buttons are now $2 after 57 years of buttons selling for $1. You may think that’s wrong, but it’s all for Wright.

That’s all the news from the Edge of Wright. Keep enjoying this celebration season.
