A barn on the 2200 block of Olson Road in Blackhoof Township caught on fire, likely the result of a lightning strike around 4:15 p.m. Wednesday, a Carlton County Sheriff’s Office news release said. Firefighters from Blackhoof, Esko, Carlton, Barnum, Moose Lake, Mahtowa and Wrenshall fire departments responded and found the barn fully involved in fire. Due to the size of the fire and rural location, a large amount of water had to be brought in by truck to put out the fire.
