Dennis M. “Denny” Breitkreutz, 76, of Eagan passed away Aug. 10, 2023, at Our Lady of Peace Hospice in St. Paul. He was born Aug. 13, 1946, in Carlton, the son of Melvin and Dorothy (Larson) Breitkreutz. Denny served in the U.S. Army in Germany during the Vietnam War. He was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Cloquet before moving to Eagan in 1986. Dennis enjoyed working on old cars. He had worked as an asbestos abator for the United Steelworkers Union at many places around the Twin Cities. Dennis also worked at the bulk mail office in Eagan, Americraft Carton, and Respite Foster Care for Dakota County with his wife, Shirley.

Dennis was preceded in death by his father, Melvin Breitkreutz; mother, Dorothy Breitkreutz; and stepmother, Laura Breitkreutz. He is survived by his wife, Shirley; children, Ricky (Amber) Breitkreutz, Jerry (Angela) Breitkreutz, Rory (Susan) Trettel, Denise (David Rife) Gentle, and Daina (Jason) Erb; brother, Alan Breitkreutz; sisters, Norma (Tom) Heikkinen, Mary Morgan, Sharon (Don) Mount and Joy Black; grandchildren, Colten, Jaegar, Mickayla, Jadon, Hunter, Zachary, Riley, Frankie and Alexander; four great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation: 12 p.m. until the 1 p.m. memorial service on Saturday, Aug. 26 at Nelson Funeral Care in Cloquet. Military Honors will be presented by the Cloquet Combined Honor Guard. A luncheon will follow in the fellowship room.
