Penny Diane Johnson, formerly of Cloquet, passed away peacefully on Aug. 24, 2023, with guidance from the Colorado medical-aid-in-dying program. Penny had family and friends at her side.

She had childhood roots in Cloquet, and then moved to Colorado in the 1970s. She called Bailey home for the last 28 years, where she was a Realtor and volunteered with the VFW auxiliary, Mountain Do-ers and a coffee club.

She was preceded in death by Cloquet native Larry W. Johnson: a husband, dad, decorated combat helicopter pilot and hero.

Penny is survived by children, Tammy Hampton and Aaron Johnson; grandchildren, Shelbie, Nathan, Myranda and Jacob; great-grandson Lucas; siblings, Terry Branham, Tom Branham, Vicki Branham-Gunther, Sue Gothmann, Denise Hughes and Janette Branham.

Penny loved everything about living in Bailey and was always sharing the local folklore about Bigfoot and everything newsworthy.

She is memorialized at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver.
