Obituary: Dolores 'Dolly' Brown

Dolores "Dolly" Brown, 90, died peacefully on Sept. 6, 2023, under the care of Douglas County Hospice, at Bethany on the Lake in Alexandria, Minnesota.
She was born Sept. 18, 1932, to Edward and Virginia Roy in Belcourt, North Dakota.
Dolly married Bruce Brown in Stevens Point, Wisconsin in 1951, and they were together until his death in 2021. They raised five children.
Her career was at first as a homemaker and mother, followed by many years in education, serving as an aide, teachers assistant and secretary. Later she volunteered as a grandmother in the local school system.
She and her husband lived mostly in Minnesota throughout their lives, with significant time in Cloquet, and later in Alexandria and nearby Nelson.
She is survived by her children Diann (Russ) Parker, Susan Bjerkness, Jeffery Brown and Doug (Tami) Brown; and daughter-in-law, Sheila Brown. She had 13 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Ellen, Marie, Lillian, Alexander, Ralph, Ernie, Lucien and Joseph; as well as husband Bruce and oldest child Gary.
Visitation: 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. memorial service Saturday, Sept. 23 at Fahlun Lutheran Church in Nelson. Burial will be at the church cemetery. Arrangements are with the Anderson Funeral Home, http://www.andersonfuneral.net.
