October 20, 2023

Ruben Robert Reynolds, dedicated husband, amazing father, and valued friend, 89, passed away on Friday, Oct. 13, 2023, at Essentia Health-St. Mary's Medical Center in Duluth, surrounded by people who loved him.

Ruben was born July 25, 1934, in Cloquet to Melvin and Agnes Reynolds. He graduated from Cloquet High School in June 1953, after which he enlisted and served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War. He returned home and started working at the Northwest Paper mill in Cloquet in 1960, where he worked until retiring in 1999.

Ruben met his wife, Ada, and they married in 1965, settling in Cloquet, where they celebrated life together until his passing.

Ruben and Ada raised five children, enjoyed watching their many grandchildren be born and thrive, traveled much of the world, were spoiled with exceptional friendships, lived a life of faith, and appreciated each moment they had together.

Ruben was preceded in death by his parents Melvin and Agnes Reynolds; his sister, Donna Mae Reynolds; brother, Vernon Reynolds; daughter Marie Johnson; and beloved pet Roxxanne. Ruben is survived by his wife Ada; children Charles, Sharon and Noel; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Ruben’s candle never dimmed, no matter how many lives he brightened. He will be greatly missed, lovingly remembered, and forever appreciated.

Visitation: 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. service on Friday, Oct. 20 at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Cloquet. Burial will be immediately after the service at Maple Grove Cemetery, followed by a luncheon back at the church.
