Wright/Cromwell news

Hey, it's the start of another year. We have almost made it into the first quarter of this century.

I have so much to be thankful for. It's great to be with family and friends and especially enjoying our mild weather. I've been busy since Curtis and Steven got here on Dec. 22. We did all the Christmas stuff with family and friends, went out for a few meals, a Pine Knot party, and I had my latest infusion. All my bloodwork came back great.

I've gotten so many great Christmas cards and letters. It sure is nice to be appreciated and thought of. I don't send many Christmas cards but do write lots of letters during the year and then my news column goes out to over 275 people via email every week, so the contacts are there.

This weather has been unbelievable. I guess a brown-green Christmas was good. They say the rain we have had is sinking in instead of running off, so maybe the drought conditions will ease a bit.

Mateo Sandoval Luna earned his Boy Scouts Eagle Scout badge a couple of weeks ago. He is the son of Angela and Eddie, and grandson of Mark and Linda Dahlman. The family is very proud of him and his achievements.

School resumed Jan. 2 in most areas. I'm sure the kids were happy to get back, but maybe not.

Just another FYI, postage will be going up again Jan. 21. Forever stamps will go from 66 cents to 68 cents. So, if you want to save a few cents, get your stamps soon.

The next YOT meeting is at noon Tuesday, Jan. 9 at the Cromwell Park Pavilion. Come on out and join the fun. Lunch is served at noon. Ruby's Pantry visits 9-10:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 11 at the Cromwell Pavilion.

I see that I have been hacked, so if you get an email request from me, don't open it, as it's a fake.

Starting July 1, purchases of a motor vehicle by a veteran having a total service-connected disability are exempt from the motor vehicle sales tax. The motor vehicle of any disabled war veteran, which vehicle has been furnished free, in whole or in part, by the United States government to said disabled veteran, shall be exempt from the motor vehicle registration tax. I hope you have a great week and are having a happy and blessed new year. Yes, it's 2024!

That's all the news from the Edge of Wright.
