Our sincere sympathies to Gil Kinnunen on the recent passing of his wife, Dawn, of West St. Paul; a celebration of life will be held at 10 a.m. Feb. 3 at Faith United Methodist Church, 1530 Oakdale Ave., West St. Paul. Wear colorful clothing to honor her memory.

The 2024 Carlton County barn calendars are still available. You can pick yours up at the Historical Society or the Pine Knot in Cloquet. This year’s featured barns belong to Jasper Beseman, Mike and Jennifer Olesiak (original owners Ray and Lydia Olesiak), Tim and Lorie Olesiak, Ed and Mary Rose Johnson (original owners Otto and Esther Adelsgruber), Terry and Peggy Olson (original owners John and Mary Krakora, Peggy’s grandparents), and Jeff and Theresa Suhonen, known as Pete’s barn. The calendars are $10 each.

The Villa will be honoring residents who are or will be in their 90s and 100s at 1:30 p.m. on Jan. 26: Dagny Quarnstrom, Niilo Isaacson, Goldie Homstad, Anna Bok, Lorraine Guentzel, Judy Miller, Roy Miller, Lorraine Beck, Glenn Soloman, Kenneth Soloman, Peter Linden, Elvie Latvala, Gloria Manninen, Gertie Schanche, Wilma Rinke, Gen Peters, Edna Mowers, and James Gatchall.

The Cromwell Area Community Club’s “Wild West Wednesday” Fun Night will be held 5-7 p.m. Jan. 31 at the Cromwell Park Pavilion. There will be beverages, appetizers, games and prizes, and a drawing for $25 cash for each new CACC member who signs up and pays dues at the event.

Don’t forget to send in your donations to Dollars for Scholars. You should have gotten a mailing a couple weeks ago; donations can also be mailed to Cromwell-Wright School, P.O. Box 7, Cromwell MN 55726.

Treat your Valentine to coffee and a sweet treat at the boys basketball game against South Ridge on Friday, Feb. 9. Dollars for Scholars will be serving coffee and sweet treats as a fundraiser during the games that evening. Come support the team and Dollars for Scholars, and enjoy the homecoming festivities that evening. See you there.

Bill and Judy Haapoja will be at the Villa Vista at 6 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 29.

Don’t forget that there’s cribbage every Thursday at 6 p.m. at the Wright Senior Center. It’s always a good time.
