Obituary: Stanley Walter "Stan" McKibbon

March 15, 2024

Stanley Walter "Stan" McKibbon passed away Monday, March 11, 2024. Stan was born in Cloquet on July 27, 1951, to Walter and Margaret McKibbon. He graduated from Carlton High School in 1969. He served four years in the U.S. Navy and married Sharon Blyth in 1972 in California.

Stan was a gentle, easygoing man who had the love of fixing things and putzing around with just about anything. His creative mind and need to figure out how things worked made him a great person to bounce ideas off of.

He also had the gift of gab. As his wife, Sharon, would say, "I can't take you anywhere without you knowing someone." He would talk to just about anyone and the conversations were easy and welcoming with little judgment. Dad, you will be missed.

Stan worked various jobs, including as a constable in Columbus, North Dakota, and Diamond Brands, Superwood, and Altec. He was a member of the VFW in Carlton and the American Legion.

Stan was preceded in death by his wife, Sharon McKibbon; son, Bruce McKibbon; parents, Walter and Margaret McKibbon; grandson Lucas Inman; and brothers, Allen and Richard McKibbon.

Stan is survived by his daughters, Melanie (Kevin) and Kimberly; sister, Elaine (Jim); grandchildren Krysena, Kieran, Kianna and Abigale; and several great-grandchildren.

Arrangements entrusted to Atkins Northland Funeral Home in Cloquet. To sign the guest book and leave an online tribute, visit http://www.atkinsnorthlandfuneralhome.com.
