Congratulations to Tom Gervais on being recognized for excellence in leadership at the Cromwell-Wright Fire District’s annual get-together April 26. Tom’s leadership style is a steadfast commitment to serving others with integrity, and he is an inspiration and example of true leadership excellence.

It was so great to see the wonderful photographs and paintings at the Pine Knot office in Cloquet last Friday evening. The exhibit will be up for several weeks, so stop in to take a gander at them. Local photographers John Dahlman and Will Stenberg’s works are on display.

Our bee population is under threat, so let’s give them all the support we can by observing No Mow May. Please don’t start mowing your lawns until after May, so the bees can find the nectar they need to survive in the spring.

Also, hummingbirds will be back soon. You can do a Google search to find a recipe for food you can make at home.

The Cromwell Forest Hill Cemetery Association will hold its annual meeting Tuesday, May 7 at the Sno-Gophers building. The potluck meal starts at 5:30 p.m., with the meeting at 6:30 p.m. The annual cemetery cleanup will be held Saturday, May 4, starting at 9 a.m. In case of rain, it will be held May 11. If you are unable to attend the meeting or help at the cemetery, you may send donations to Northview Bank, 5584 Highway 210, Cromwell MN 55726. Thanks in advance for any contribution you give.

Our sympathies to the family of Jon Swenson, 91, of Cromwell, who passed away April 22. Visitation is 1 p.m. until the 2 p.m. memorial service Sunday at Bethany Lutheran Church in Cromwell. Lunch will follow the service at the church.

Our sympathies to the family of Elmer Thomas, who passed away recently. His obituary is in today’s issue of the Pine Knot.

Stephanie Kay Larson, 37, Cromwell died April 13. A memorial gathering will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 11 at the Valley Youth Center, 720 N. Central Ave. in Duluth.

The County Seat Theater presents “First Night” at 7 p.m. May 16, 17 and 18 and at 2 p.m. May 12 and 19. The production’s opening art show is 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 4 as part of that day’s Art Roundabout art tour.
