In January, I celebrated the 50-year anniversary of my scoring 12 points in a Cloquet high school boys basketball game versus the stunned Morgan Park Wildcats. It was my all-time CHS high. There will be a spaghetti dinner benefit for Vicki Homstad 4-7 p.m. March 5 at the VFW in Cloquet. Between 60 and 70 brave anglers attended this year's Kingdom Builders Ministries annual fishing derby. This was the sixth annual ice fishing contest, and there were plenty of fish and prizes to go around. The largest northern caught weighed in at 4.03 pounds. The largest bass was 2.38 lbs. The largest perch was 13 ounces, and the largest sunfish was 3 ounces. Gifts included a portable icehouse, two augers, two Vexilars, an underwater camera and more. Osprey Wilds Environmental Learning Center in Sandstone will expand by 562 acres through the donation of Blacklock Nature Sanctuary and the purchase of property adjoining the sanctuary east of Moose Lake. Kyle Roswell Johnson, 33, of Culver died unexpectedly Sunday, February 20, 2022 in St. Luke’s Hospital in Duluth due to a traumatic brain aneurysm. Gerald Frederick Crisler, 73, resident of Moose Lake and formerly of Sterling, Nebraska, passed away unexpectedly in his home Feb, 25, 2022. It’s with great sadness that we announce the death of Lawrence “Coolie” Oswald on Feb. 17, 2022, at his home in Gretna, Louisiana. Born in Cloquet, he was the son of Jerome L. This month, she and sustainability activist Rob Greenfield, an Ashland, Wisconsin native, released a book, called “Zero Waste Kids.” On Friday, March 4, the two will be at the Cloquet Public Library to discuss the book and sign copies. Antique Appraisals with Steve Wesely, of Crescent Auctioneering were held on Tuesday, March 1st at 1 p.m. at the Moose Lake Historical Society. There were six participants and five observers. The Cloquet Police Department issued a news release Monday that they are investigating the "suspicious" death of an unidentified woman last week on the Fond du Lac Reservation and within Cloquet city limits.
