Wrong Days in Wright are on, with buttons to mark the pandemic version.

The 55th annual Wrong Days in Wright is a go, and will be taking place the weekend of July 17-19 in Wright with a scaled-back list of events. There are posters up around the area, so you can check on the events you would like to participate in. Remember to attend at your own risk, and that masks and social distancing are encouraged.

Buttons are available in area businesses, as there will be no door-to-door selling or king and queen candidates this year. They are still only $1 each, but there will be no prizes this year. Vendors and exhibitors are encouraged to call Leslie Wilson at 218-451-0018, or me at 218-357-2385, to sign up. Call Jake at 218-391-6765 to sign up for the parade, or just show up by Groth Lumber before 10 a.m. Saturday. The parade will start at 10:30 a.m., and be sure to wear gloves if you plan to throw candy to the kids.

The Cromwell-Wright school board has three four-year terms to be filled beginning Jan. 20. If you are interested in having your name on the ballot please note the following application dates and stop in the school office between July 28-Aug. 11 to pick one up. The terms of Angela Anderson, Tim Homstad and Brian Granholm are up. Tuesday, July 28 is the first day to file for candidacy; Tuesday, Aug. 11 is the last day to file for candidacy.

Ann Heikkila called and said her husband, Wes, died June 25, at 87 years of age. He was a hale and hearty man at over 200 pounds, and was at only 135 when he passed from Parkinson's. Please keep Ann and their children, Calvin and Susan, and their families in your prayers. They were married for more than 60 years, and Wes was in the Silver Bay Veterans Home for the past couple of years. Cards can be sent to the family at PO Box 123, Wright MN 55798.

Our sympathy to the family of Artie Vigness, who passed away June 26, 2020.

My husband, Bob, is in the North Shore Estates nursing home in West Duluth. He is getting physical therapy and seems to be improving, so hopefully he can come home soon. Cards can be sent to us at 620 Center Road, Wright MN 55798. Feel free to offer your encouragement.

The Tri-Community Food Shelf in Cromwell is open 3-5:30 p.m. Fridays, as usual. If you or someone you know in our three communities of Cromwell, Tamarack and Wright are in need, please stop in for safe distribution of food. No hoops to jump through, all in need are welcome to use our services once a month.

The Area Clothing Depot is now open 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. Please wear a mask. All donations will be put in the shed outside. Manager Beanie Randa is also asking for community members to step up and volunteer to work at the depot. Please call her at 218-966-4228, or just stop in to sign up.

Round Lake Presbyterian Church North of Tamarack will hold worship service at 10 a.m. Sundays this month. Bethany Lutheran in Cromwell will continue its 10:30 a.m. Sunday services unless there is a new stay-at-home order. St John's and the Free Church in Wright are now open at their regular times. Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Wright will remain closed until further notice.

There are no plans to have YOT or the YOT Senior dances in Cromwell at this time.

Please call or email me if you have any news for this column at 218-357-2385 or [email protected] I'd like to publish what our recent grads are up to in the future.

That's all the news from the Edge of Wright - stay safe.
