One of the side events to those in town at Carlton Daze is the Paddlemania on the rapids of the St. Louis River, from the Thomson dam to the swinging bridge in Jay Cooke State Park. The water was rough enough to create a few spills and a lot of thrills for those participating on Saturday. There were quiet moments as well, on what turned out to be a perfect weather day by the river.
