A hometown newspaper with a local office, local owners & lots of local news
September is here. This means harvest fests, cooler weather and the beginning of school. As I begin my final year at the University of Minnesota Duluth, I will be leaving my internship at the Pine Knot News.
It has been an incredible experience, with so many learning opportunities. I was fortunate that I got to attend many fun events as a part of my work here. It was so much fun to be recognized as a member of the Pine Knot, and occasionally people would mention that they had read something I had written. My favorite part was reading the paper and seeing a page of photos from an event I had gone to.
As a fairly shy person, I was very nervous going and interviewing people. I preferred to be behind the camera documenting an event than to be asking people a lot of questions. This worked out well for a lot of the events I went to, but I also had a couple stories where I needed to talk to people in more depth. While not my favorite, these were good times for personal growth. I certainly learned a lot about what I want to do in my future career and what I might be less suited for.
Thank you to all the readers and the Pine Knot folks for an interesting summer.
