The Carlton Soil and Water Conservation District is hosting a new workshop in its efforts to protect property owners from forest fires. The “Learn to Become Firewise” program will take place 6:30 to 8 p.m. on April 26 at the Cloquet Public Library. Carlton County master gardeners are hosting two family garden-party-style classes in the next month. They are free and open to everyone, but space is limited, so registration is required. The first session is 10-11:30 a.m. April 28. The second is at the same time on May 12. Robert “Bob” Bomier, 73, of Barnum passed away April 1, 2022, peacefully at The North Shore Estates in Duluth. Bob was born May 1, 1948, in Flint, Michigan, the son of Bernard and Lois Bomier. Renee Genevieve Kinnunen, 83, of Cloquet passed away on April 1, 2022, peacefully at Sunnyside Health Care Center after a courageous battle with cancer. Renee was born on Dec. 27, 1938 in Cloquet, the daughter of Keith and Evelyn Hunter. She graduated from Cloquet High School in 1956, and was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Gerald L. Lizotte, 82, of Cloquet passed away April 3, 2022, at Inter-Faith Care Center in Carlton. He was born Jan. 24, 1940, in Crookston, the son of Rene and Rita (Theroux) Lizotte. Robert Russell McMillan, 89, known as "Mac" or "Bob," passed away in the early hours of April 1, 2022. All who really knew him will miss his humor, storytelling, letters and poems.
