The first tree lighting ceremony in Kettle River on Friday, Dec. 6 was a big success. "Kettle River needed this," said Morgan Yeats, one of the organizers from the Ma and Pa Kettle Days committee in an email several days after the event. The Carlton Holiday Market was wonderful. My sister, Sherry Erickson, and I took our event passports to at least six businesses in Carlton to shop and get stamped for the drawing at the tree lighting ceremony. Board to set budget, tax levy The Carlton County Board of Commissioners will vote on the 2019 property tax levy (payable in 2020) along with the 2020 budget at its 4 p.m. Dec. 23 meeting.
