Carlton VFW Post 2962 meat raffle 6 p.m. Fridays. Proceeds benefit the Post and Confidence Learning Center.

“Story Time with Chione,” 10 a.m. at the Cloquet library. The Chione Woodwind Quintet will lead a performance of musical learning, storytelling and American Sign Language, which participants will use to interact with the music. The 45-minute story time program is for all ages.

Cloquet Public Library presents FanCon 12-4 p.m. at the Garfield school gym, 302 14th St., Cloquet. Costumers for a Cause will give presentations on convention cosplay, the Cloquet High RipSaw Robotics team will be selling concessions to raise funds, Rogue Robot will be demonstrating and selling board games, and for each $1 donation to Costumers for a Cause the Random Item Generator will generate a random item. Saturday, Jan. 18

7 Buck Breakfast 6:30-11 a.m. at Cloquet VFW. Cost: $7 includes entry for 11:10 a.m. prize drawings; $5 for raffle only; $10 includes Bloody Mary with breakfast; free breakfast for age 12 and under. Proceeds support the Cloquet VFW and Carlton County DAV.

Visit with social services and agencies offering veterans’, senior, disability, physical and mental health services, as well as housing, childcare, food access and education resources, warrant resolution and more. Nature’s Patterns Snowshoe 1-3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 25 at Jay Cooke State Park, 3 miles east of Carlton on State Hwy 210. Join the park naturalist for a winter snowshoe walk in the woods and discover patterns in nature, and then warm up inside by the fireplace and create your own patterned picture. Meet at the River Inn Interpretive Center. Child and adult snowshoes are available; please call ahead to reserve, 218-673-7000.
