Former Cloquet-Esko-Carlton hockey player Westin Michaud is hoping a move west will give him a chance to realize his dream of playing in the NHL. In a stormy bout between the Cloquet-Esko-Carlton and Duluth East boys soccer teams last Thursday, the Lumberjacks were left with a 1-0 loss and an early exit as the weather prevented a full second half. After two section titles in a row, the Cloquet girls soccer team remains a favorite for a three-peat in Section 7. Last week the Lumberjacks split a pair of games, beating Hibbing 8-0 Tuesday, then losing Saturday 2-0 to Two Rivers (formerly Henry Sibley). Get ready to laugh at the County Seat Theater Company's fall season opener, the comedy "Beer for Breakfast," which begins its run at the Encore Performing Arts Center starting tonight, Friday, Sept. 24. The Minnesota Department of Transportation is hosting a virtual public meeting at 5:30 p.m. Sept. 28 to discuss work along northbound Interstate 35 at Barnum in 2022. The project may include a detour due to closure of the northbound exit ramp into town. The meeting will include a presentation and time for questions.
