The Carlton county board will join a list of those waiting on decisions regarding consolidation between the Wrenshall and Carlton school districts. The Carlton school board has been drafting a letter to the county regarding the possible sale of its high school property, which sits next to the county jail. Cloquet’s downtown revitalization efforts received a nice boost last week when, along with three other Minnesota municipalities, the city was selected for the 2020 Artists on Main Street cohort. Over the next two years, Cloquet will receive $30,000 for project funding and program implementation. An Esko area woman and boy were injured when the car they were in was struck by a train Saturday. According to a press release from the Carlton County Sheriff’s Office, dispatch received a report of a car-train accident on East Stark Road in Thomson Township at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7. News broke Nov. 30 on Facebook that Cloquet’s Quilted Dog Quilt Shop on Minnesota Highway 33 north of Cloquet had been robbed sometime during Nov. 27-29. According to a Facebook post by Quilted Dog owners Mary and Gerry Thompson, the thieves “ransacked” the shop and stole everything from quilts and table runners to wool, magazine stands, candy and even toilet paper.
